What to do with an unwanted domain?

According to our Domain Registration Agreement, all the domain registrations/renewals are final, cannot be canceled, and are not refundable. Also, there is no technical possibility to change or edit domain names after registration.

However, in some cases, we may provide a refund if you have a valid reason for requesting a new domain name cancellation — you will need to contact us within 5 days (120 hours) after registration.

Please note that cancellation and refund may not be possible due to restrictions imposed by the applicable registry or registry operating company. Refunds are not possible for Premium Domains.

Where a cancellation and refund are not possible, please adhere to one of the following options:

1) Register your new domain via our Domain Name Search and forward along your unwanted one.

2) Try selling your unwanted domain name in our Namecheap Marketplace. To learn more about how this process works, please visit this page.

3) Move your domain name ownership to another Namecheap user by selecting "Change Ownership". To learn more about this option, you can read this article.

4) Ensure that your auto-renewal option is turned off and allow the domain name to expire.
