How can I set up a URL Frame for my domain?

It is possible to set up a URL Frame for a domain pointed to our BasicDNS, PremiumDNS, or FreeDNS.

There are several drawbacks of the URL Frame option:

1) Frames often cannot properly resize for mobile screens. This means that your mobile version won't be functional when your visitors view your site on a phone.

2) A lot of major providers such as Google, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, etc. block this feature on their servers' side.

3) Frames aren't smart enough to put SEO tags, images, and descriptions on the outer wrapping site, so as a result, your domain won't be able to pull that information when it gets indexed.

In order to set up URL Frame (Masked Forwarding) for your domain, please perform the following actions:

1. Sign into your Namecheap account (The Sign In option is available in the header of the page).

2. Select Domain List from the left sidebar and click on the Manage button next to your domain:

3. Navigate the Advanced DNS tab at the top of the page:

4. Find the Host records section and click on the Add New Record button (not able to edit Host Records?):

5. Select URL Redirect Record (Masked) from the drop-down menu for Type, put @ (your bare domain e.g., yourdomain.tld) for Host, and enter a URL you would like to redirect a domain to into the Value line:

To redirect www.yourdomain.tld or any subdomain like blog.yourdomain.tld to a destination URL, enter www or blog for Host accordingly.

6. Once all details are inserted, save them using the Save changes green icon. Normally, it takes 30 minutes for newly created records to take effect.

Once you've done so, you might also want to make sure that there are no conflicting records for the same Host and remove them if there are any. The records you need to check may be of Unmasked/Masked/Permanent Redirect, A, or CNAME record types.

Here is an example of conflicting records:

That's it!
