How to back up and restore emails in cPanel Webmail

If you use cPanel email for your domain, you can back up (export) and restore (import) your emails using the Roundcube web interface.

There are several options to access your cPanel Webmail interface. You can check all of them here.

To back up (export) emails to your local computer, open the required email and click on the More icon in the bar above and click on Export:



The email will be downloaded to your computer as an .eml file. This type of file is supported by most of the email services, so you can easily restore them later on different servers.

NOTE: Roundcube does not provide convenient functionality to download many emails at once.

To restore (import) emails using Roundcube, click on the same More icon in the bar above and then on Import:



After this, choose the back up file you wish to be imported and click Import:



Once done, you will get a notification the messages have been successfully imported:
