In this article, we explain how to stay signed in to several mailboxes in the same browser and switch between them without signing out.
- Select your profile picture in the top-right corner to open the profile menu.
- Select "Add account" at the bottom of the menu.
- Sign in to your other mailbox using your email address and Master or Application password, plus 2FA if you have it enabled.
That's it. Your new account becomes the active one, and your previous account stays signed in.
- Select your profile picture to open the profile menu.
- Choose the account you want from the list.
You won't need to sign in again.
- Open the profile menu and click "Log out".
This signs you out of the current account only. Your other accounts stay signed in, and you can choose which one to continue with. You won't be switched to another account automatically.
If a session expires, only that one account is affected. It stays in your account list marked "Expired", and you can sign back in with a quick half-login. An expired account leaves the list when you sign out of it, or automatically after about two weeks.
To sign back in, select the account and enter your Master or Application password (plus 2FA if you have it enabled). Your email address is already filled in, so you don’t need to type it again.
An expired account is removed from the list when you sign out of it.
-
Up to 10 accounts – You can stay signed in to a maximum of 10 accounts per browser.
-
Private Email only – You can add other Private Email mailboxes, but not accounts from other email providers.
-
Browser-specific – Your account list exists only in the browser you’re using. It isn’t synced across devices or browsers, and accounts aren’t permanently linked.
-
One active account per browser – The active account is the same in every tab, so switching in one tab switches all of them.
-
Save drafts first – If you switch accounts while writing an email, any unsaved draft is lost without warning.
-
Web only – Multiple accounts work in desktop and mobile web browsers only.
-
Your security stays the same – Each account keeps its own password and 2FA. Nothing changes for app passwords or IMAP/SMTP.
