How to set up FastVPN on Huawei Router

This tutorial will guide you through the setup of L2TP or PPTP VPN connection on a Huawei Router but first let’s check our requirements and recommendations.

Requirements

To ensure a proper work of FastVPN with a Huawei router, you will need:

  • A secure FastVPN connection (Don’t have one? Sign up here!);
  • An internet connection;
  • VPN supported router;
  • Access to you FastVPN Account Panel.

VPN configuration on a Huawei router

1. Before you start configuring VPN, you need to establish a connection with your Huawei router. To do this, you need to enter in your browser the following address: http://192.168.1.1 (if this doesn’t work, please refer to your router’s manual to find out what is the Default Gateway Address). Also you have to set your network connection to get an IP address automatically if you connect to your router via Ethernet.

2. Enter your username and password (by default, they are both "admin") and click Log In:

3. In the top menu bar, choose the More Functions tab:

4. Select Network Settings and Virtual Private Network from the left sidebar:

5. Click Edit next to L2TP or PPTP connection:

6. Enter the following details:

  • VPN server: your preferred server from the FastVPN Account Panel (e.g. fra-a10.vpn.wlvpn.com)
  • User name: your FastVPN account username from the FastVPN Account Panel
  • Password: your FastVPN accout password from the FastVPN Account Panel
Once done, click Connect:


7. If the connection is successful, you will see a "VPN connected" message and the Connection Status will be changed to "Connected":




8. Finally, check your IP address to confirm the VPN connection is working properly.
