How to Use Namecheap VPN for PS4

You can use Namecheap VPN for PS4, but you can’t configure any VPN service or install an app directly on the Playstation console itself. This means the process is a little more involved, but easy to set up with these step-by-step instructions. There are three available options open to you.

Option 1: Use a VPN for PS4 using your router

Since your PS4 gets its internet connection from your router, this is the next device in the chain which could provide a VPN connection.

To set up Namecheap VPN service on your router you can use our router setup guide.

When your Namecheap VPN connection is successfully configured on your router all that remains is connect PS4 to it.

To connect your PS4 to your router with an Ethernet cable:

1. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to an open port on your router and connect the other end to your PS4 console.

2. Make sure both your router and your PS4 are powered on.

3. On the PS4 home menu, select Settings.

4. Select Network.

5. Choose Set Up Internet Connection.

9. Lastly, advance by accepting all the settings, select Test Connection and now your VPN PS4 connection through router is completed.

Connecting Over WiFi:

2. Choose Network.

3. Select Set Up Internet Connection.

4. Choose Use WiFi, and then select Easy.

Option 2: Set up a VPN for PS4 via your Mac

If you don’t want to run your entire home network through a VPN router, another option is to use a Mac and an Ethernet cable, if you’ve got both to hand. Make sure that your Mac has an Ethernet port and Wi-Fi, and is in range of your console.

1. Connect a cable between your PS4 and a computer.

2. Setup Internet Sharing on your Mac.

3. Go to the VPN app on your Mac system, launch it and connect to the desired server.

4. Access XMB menu of PS4 go to Settings > Network Settings > Set up Internet Connection.

5. Select Use a LAN Cable when asked and don’t forget to put the connection method as Easy.

6. Next, click on Do Not Use a ProxyServer when asked.

7. Lastly, advance by accepting all the settings, select Test Connection.

8. To share your Namecheap VPN connection with your device, connect to Namecheap VPN, then reboot your PS4.

Option 3: Set up a VPN for PS4 via your Windows PC

There’s also a way to share a connection between your PS4 and a Windows 10 PC. It’s essentially the same method as connecting with a Mac but utilizes the Windows equivalent of Internet Sharing. As above, your computer will need both an Ethernet port and Wi-Fi (or a second Ethernet port) as it will need to be able to connect to your broadband router for an internet connection.

1. Connect the PS4 to Computer via cable.

2. Setup Internet Connection Sharing on your Windows PC.

3. Access XMB menu of PS4 and go to Settings > Network Settings > Set up Internet Connection.

4. Select Use a LAN Cable when asked and don’t forget to put the connection method as Easy.

5. Next, click on Do Not Use a Proxy Server when asked.

6. Lastly, advance by accepting all the settings, select Test Connection and now your VPN PS4 connection through Windows is completed.

7. To share your Namecheap VPN connection with your device, connect to Namecheap VPN, then reboot your PS4.
