Namecheap Now Offers Bitcoin Payment Option Via BTCPay

Phoenix, AZ - September 18, 2020 - Namecheap, the world’s second-largest domain registrar and leading provider of digital products empowering people on the Internet, today announced new Bitcoin payment support through BTCPay.

With BTCPay, Namecheap customers can now add any amount of money (up to $100,000) to their Namecheap account balance to use for payments. Any Bitcoin wallet is acceptable.

Namecheap has a long tradition of supporting Bitcoin, becoming the first major registrar to announce its acceptance of the currency as payment from its customers in 2013. BTCPay is an open-source and self-hosted cryptocurrency payment processor. Accepting Bitcoin payment through this new method further underscores Namecheap’s commitment to personal data privacy and online security for all its customers.

Namecheap will also continue to accept payment through BitPay, and customers looking to purchase Namecheap products and services with Bitcoin will now have the option to do so through BTCPay or BitPay.

More details about using BTCPay:

  • BTCPay payments are non-refundable as the service does not offer refunds;
  • Namecheap accepts payments through BTCPay as account balance deposits;
  • One or two transaction confirmations are enough for funds to appear in a Namecheap user’s account balance;
  • Only Bitcoins are accepted;
  • No OFAC restrictions.
