Upcoming Price Updates for cPanel Licenses

As you might have heard, cPanel recently announced standardized pricing changes to their licenses for all partners, distributors, and cPanel store customers. These upcoming changes also have a direct impact on all hosting providers, including Namecheap.

In the past, cPanel issued licenses to customers without setting a limit on the number of cPanel accounts they were allowed to create. For the majority of our Namecheap hosting customers, this meant that once they purchased their respective hosting plan (with cPanel included), they could create as many cPanel accounts as they liked, without a change in the overall price.

With the new updates, however, this will soon change. cPanel now intends to charge separately for cPanel accounts, billing their customers on a monthly basis under a tiered pricing structure (more on that below).

Since these changes are set to affect Namecheap customers with more than one cPanel account (namely Reseller Hosting, VPS Hosting, and Dedicated Server Hosting customers), here’s a quick rundown on what to expect.

Reseller Hosting

For our existing Galaxy Expert and Universe Pro customers, we’re now introducing a limit (100 to 200, respectively) on the number of cPanel accounts they’re allowed to create. In other words? Galaxy Expert customers will now be able to create 100 resold cPanel accounts while our Universe Pro customers will be able to create up to 200 resold cPanel accounts.

For those Reseller Hosting customers who prefer more cPanel accounts, we’re doing everything we can to find the best solution. Nebula customers (or those who had cPanel account limits already in place) will not be affected.

Yeti with different planets representing hosting tiers

VPS Hosting

Currently, our VPS and Dedicated Server customers pay an additional fee for each cPanel account they have. That’s why we decided to introduce a new tiered approach to our pricing, based on the number of accounts and cPanel licenses held.

The new tiered structure for VPS Hosting is as follows:

  • Tier One: up to 5 cPanel accounts at $10.88/month
  • Tier Two: up to 30 cPanel accounts at $15.88/month
  • Tier Three: up to 100 cPanel accounts at $29.88/month

Dedicated Server Hosting

The new tiered structure for Dedicated Server Hosting is as follows:

  • Tier One: up to 100 cPanel accounts at $29.88/month
  • Tier Two: up to 150 cPanel accounts at $34.88/month
  • Tier Three: up to 200 cPanel accounts at $39.88/month
  • Tier Four: up to 250 cPanel accounts at $44.88/month

When you purchase your respective Dedicated Server (complete with a cPanel license), please note that Tier One is selected by default.

If you’d prefer to have more cPanel accounts available to use or you’d like to purchase additional ones, simply submit your ticket with your intended request. We’ll do the rest!

We’re Here For You

Rest assured that we have worked hard to make this cPanel pricing transition as smooth as possible for our hosting customers. By customizing our prices, we believe this gives you full transparency over what you can expect to pay per month and eliminates any confusion.

And don’t forget to mark your calendars—these pricing changes are set to go into effect for Namecheap customers on November 1, 2019.

If you have any questions or need further clarification on the new cPanel pricing policy, our Customer Support Team is available 24/7.
